Wanted fugitive being extradited from Puerto Rico for alleged gang-related murder in BC 

Conor D’Monte was arrested in Puerto Rico in 2022, after a more than a decade-long international manhunt. D’Monte is accused of being involved in the murder of BC man, Kevin LeClair.

In 2008 and 2009, the Lower Mainland was in the midst of some of the worst gang violence in history—The two main groups included the Red Scorpions and the United Nation, who would routinely get caught in shootouts.

In February 2009, LeClair, who was a member of the Red Scorpions, was murdered in broad daylight during a shooting at a Langley strip mall. While his death was one of many, it prompted one of the longest joint investigations in CFSEU-BC history.

​​Numerous United Nations gang members have been arrested and convicted over the course of the investigation.

Since the start of the investigation, there have been 18 arrests and 12 convictions of United Nations gang members.

D’Monte, who is one of Canada’s most wanted fugitives, will soon be extradited to a Canadian pre-trial facility, according to the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC),

“CFSEU-BC and our police partners from around the globe spent many years looking for Conor D’Monte. Just like other fugitives, including Rabih Alkhalil who is also one of Canada’s most wanted, CFSEU-BC and police will not stop until we catch those wanted for violent crimes,” says Assistant Commissioner Manny Mann, CFSEU-BC’s Chief Officer.

“With the assistance of the BOLO Program, police agencies, and the public, we will be able to bring them before the courts so they can stand trial and be held accountable for the harm they’ve caused.”

The CFSEU-BC adds that they are now focused on supporting the prosecution of D’Monte, and as his pending trial is an active judicial process, they will not be making further comments.
