(UPDATE: Dec. 6 @ 6:30 am) - A massive stretch of Hwy 1 through the BC Interior is scheduled to reopen this morning.
The highway was shut down between Revelstoke and Golden around 1 pm Tuesday for avalanche control.
It was initially meant to reopen at 5 pm, but that timeline was pushed back to 9 pm and then overnight.
Late Tuesday evening, the portion of Hwy 1 between Sicamous and Revelstoke was shut down as well, also due to avalanche control.
According to DriveBC, both sections of Hwy 1 will reopen at 7 am.
(UPDATE: Dec. 5 @ 5:15 pm) – DriveBC is reporting that Hwy 1 between Revelstoke and Golden will remain closed until 9 pm.
The highway is currently closed due to avalanche control work.
Unfortunately, no detour is available during the closure.

(Original story: Dec. 5 @ noon) – Anyone travelling east on Hwy 1 Tuesday afternoon is being advised to prepare for a lengthy delay due to avalanche control.
The highway will be closed between Revelstoke and Golden from 1-5 pm.
Unfortunately, no detour will be available during the four hour closure.
DriveBC says the closure will begin at the intersection of Hwy 1 and Hwy 23 in Revelstoke and will span over 146 kilometres east to 11th Street in Golden.
Drivers are also reminded of a winter storm warning in place for Hwy 1 between the Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass.
Environment Canada says 10-20 cm of snow is expected to fall by Wednesday morning.
