(Original story: Dec. 5 @ noon) – Anyone travelling east on Hwy 1 Tuesday afternoon is being advised to prepare for a lengthy delay due to avalanche control.

The highway will be closed between Revelstoke and Golden from 1-5 pm.

Unfortunately, no detour will be available during the four hour closure.

DriveBC says the closure will begin at the intersection of Hwy 1 and Hwy 23 in Revelstoke and will span over 146 kilometres east to 11th Street in Golden.

Drivers are also reminded of a winter storm warning in place for Hwy 1 between the Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass.
