Kelowna patio guide: 10 patios to enjoy in Central Kelowna this summer

Aimed to help both residents and tourists who are looking for new spots to eat and drink outdoors this summer, our patio guide will come in seven parts (each a different neighbourhood) over the course of the week of May 13-19.

These stories will just give you the tip of the iceberg when it comes to patios in a certain area, as we can’t highlight them all, but it gives you a starting point that will surely lead you to other great outdoor spots nearby!


It's no surprise that the patios in Central Kelowna are some of the best.

While the area is growing with new establishments, there are several community staples that have been around for years.

Whether you're interested in hitting up a brewery, finding a spot to relax after a great game of golf or bringing your entire family out for a tasty meal in the sun, this part of the city has got you covered.

You'll likely find your new favourite place from the list below.


Baxter’s Bar & Grill

1745 Spall Rd.

  • Baxter's Bar & Grill was originally opened by Greg Adams, an NHL player for the Vancouver Canucks, and has been owned by Ron Doig ever since.
  • With its quaint size, impeccable service and daily hours from 11 am to 10 pm, it's the place to go to catch the big game.

Bin 4 Burger Lounge

1616 Powick Rd.

  • Bin 4 Burger Lounge is the place to go if you want a massive selection of world class burgers, which are just part of Bin 4's large menu.
  • The patio may be close to Hwy 97, but it still has a secluded and peaceful feel with plenty of shade.

Copper Brewing Company

102-1851 Kirschner Rd.

  • Owned by Darla Ariss and Sean White, Copper Brewing Company has been a staple in the Landmark District since it opened in August of 2019.
  • It's a great place to enjoy locally sourced, high quality pub fare and good beer, and it opens every day at noon.

Frankie We Salute You

#6 1717 Harvey Ave.

  • Located in the Landmark District, Frankie We Salute You has been making plant-based eating tasty and inspiring for the past four years. Owners Chef Brian Skinner and Christina Skinner have always seen food as a way to connect with people they love, and their outdoor patio is an ideal place to do that.
  • Their menu pulls from a close family of local growers and farmers, with an equal emphasis on regional wines, craft beer and cider. They open at 11 am Tuesdays through Sundays.

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar

1825 Underhill St.

  • Located a short drive from both the Kelowna International Airport and downtown, The Keg is a great spot to enjoy a year-round heated and covered patio with your family and friends who are visiting.
  • Their menu is full of delicious food and drink options, including a handful of mocktails. They open at 2 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and 4 pm the rest of the week. Their happy hour starts when they open and ends at 6 pm.

Mickie’s Pub

2170 Harvey Ave.

  • Mickie's Pub, located within the Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre, has been around for over 25 years, and they offer great pub-style food with hearty portions at affordable prices, as well as daily food and drink specials.
  • Whether you've had a hard day at work or a fun day shopping at Orchard Park Shopping Centre across the highway, Mickie's is an ideal spot to spend time with your friends and family. There are two patio areas, and the large one allows minors. Plus, they're dog-friendly. Mickie's is open at 11 am Mondays through Fridays, and 9 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Mid-Town Station Kitchen + Drink

#200 1615 Dickson Ave.

  • Located in the Landmark District, Mid-Town Station opened its doors in November 2019. As the sister restaurant of the Train Station Pub, Mid-Town offers the same friendly and knowledgeable service Kelowna has come to rely on, making it an enjoyable spot to gather with colleagues, friends and family.
  • They have delicious food options including sea salt kettle chips, hot wings, flatbreads, curry, burgers and steak. Their drink menu also does not disappoint with mojitos, margaritas, beer, local wine and more. They open at 11 am six days a week, with happy hour Mondays through Saturdays from 2 to 6 pm.

Milestones Grill

2121 Harvey Ave.

  • Whether you're going on a date, catching up with friends from out of town or celebrating with family, Milestones is a great spot to gather. Being right across from Orchard Park Shopping Centre makes it an ideal place to grab brunch, lunch or dinner. The restaurant opens at 10 am on Saturdays and Sundays, and 11 am the rest of the week. Brunch is available until 3 pm and happy hour is available daily from 2 to 5 pm and 8 pm to close.

Moxies

1730 Cooper Rd.

  • Moxies re-opened its doors in January with a fresh menu and a stunning new atmosphere, and the outdoor patio features a fire pit. The globally inspired menu, led by executive chef Brandon Thordarson, is made in-house with delicious options including pastas and bowls, burgers, tacos and truffle fries. Their drink menu also has some unique options such as a lavender lemonade, passion grapefruit mule, white peach bellini and rosé sangria.
  • They open every day at 8 am and have happy hour from 2 to 5 pm.

Smitty’s Family Restaurant

2170 Harvey Ave.

  • Smitty's is one of Canada's largest all-day family restaurant chains, and Kelowna's spot certainly does not disappoint. It's popular among families with small children, seniors and travelers, making it an excellent spot to have a bite to eat with everyone you know.
  • Their menu features delicious breakfast classics including buttermilk pancakes, waffles, skillets and omelettes, as well as garden fresh salads, burgers, steak and pasta. Plus, they have a kids menu for little ones. Smitty's opens at 7 am every day.
